Derek Simmerman told us last week about how much he loved his new Palm Pre. Since he was with us, he returned his 3rd Pre and decided to take a chance on something else due to too many hardware issues. What influences us in our mobile carrier choices today? Do we chose a carrier based on price? Coverage? Device? What I miss about WM/ iPhone Counter Point What I don't miss about WM Informational Lock Screen (aka S2U2, WM6.5)(You miss the application that does this? There's an iPhone app that does this too. We could have a whole separate list just for apps.) Full Featured (timed) Trial applications...

Agendus for iPhone is not Agendus for Palm…yet

Posted by: Alli Flowers    Tags:  Agendus, calendar, contacts, Iambic, manager, Palm, pim, tasks, windows mobile    Posted date:  June 18, 2009  |  6 Comments

Before I get too far with this, I need to offer some kind of disclaimer and explain my relationship with Iambic. I am an Agendus fangirl. It’s really as simple as that. I am Agendus biased. I wrote several reviews about Agendus for Palm back in the day. Agendus was my number one go to app on my Centro and Treos before that. I used to spend hours hanging out on the Iambic forums giving users advice – whether they wanted it or not. I finally spent so much time there, that Adriano Chiaretta said “hey, why not join the Iambic Forums Team.” I was tickled pink. Then I discovered that active Iambic...

SPB Mobile Shell 3

Posted by: Alli Flowers    Tags:  launcher, shell, SPB, windows mobile, WinPho    Posted date:  April 25, 2009  |  One Comment

SPB has finally released the long awaited update to its wildly popular Mobile Shell. Version 3 is now available for $29.95, or for an upgrade price of only $14.97. I forget why I had stopped using the older version of Mobile shell, so I won’t be making any comparisons here. What I will say is it’s beautiful, and nowhere near as difficult to set up as some other reviews have made it seem.   I have run into a few little problems with SPBMS3, but I have a strong suspicion that they have more to do with the bizarre behavior of my Treo 800w than the application. For instance, following a phone...

Dumping Outlook – Returning to the Palm Desktop

Posted by: Alli Flowers    Tags:  calendar, cloud, CommpanionLink, Google, Goosync, Outlook, Palm, Palm desktop, pim data, ppc, sync, tasks, windows mobile, WinPho    Posted date:  March 15, 2009  |  No comment

This has been my goal since the day I first started seriously toying with the notion of switching to a WinPho. I have always admitted to hating Outlook, even though I really can’t explain why. I prefer my email viewed in Mozilla Thunderbird. Thunderbird actually gives me far more control over the layout. I liked using the Palm Desktop for my contacts and calendar: more precisely, I preferred using Agendus. Iambic offers an Outlook version of Agendus, but it’s still just Outlook with a pretty wrapper.   So what changed? As most of you know, my love of Agendus was so great, that about...

msmobiles podcast 270

Posted by: Alli Flowers    Tags:  HTC, podcast, windows mobile, WinPho    Posted date:  March 8, 2009  |  No comment

This morning we had the pleasure of having Eric Lin from HTC as a guest on the msmobiles podcast. Eric was battered by questions from our panel, and answered most of them. Following is a list of the questions he was asked: Everyone wants a 3.5mm headset jack on their phones, why do HTC keep using the EXT USB connector? Will HTC adopt the universal charger ie microUSB? How much of a game changer has The Touch Diamond been for HTC? Where are the best areas for sales of the company? Video playback performance of HTC devices has always been poor compared with other manufacturers, eg the Touch...
