A Trio of Android Treasures

Like many people, I am forever hunting for applications which extend the functionality of my device, and increase its abilities. Without bursting into song about my favorite things, here are three Android applications that make my life easier, and my device much more useful. Tasker – Android Automation Gone Wild (~5.50 purchased from dev, ~6.50 purchased through market) Tasker has been around a while, and much has been said about it, but I think it worth mentioning again.  This gem of an app allows the user to automate almost anything on the device – without root, and without being an Android...

CalenGoo

Everyone knows how much I depend on my calendar, and that it was one of the big disappointments moving to the iPhone. I started out with PocketInformant while waiting for Agendus to catch up, and while the new owners seem to be dropping the ball on Agendus, PI hasn’t really done it for me. And then @jjb70 suggested CalenGoo. Since I sync only with Google, it seemed worth the try. For $6.99, it’s a mid price app from iTunes, but still a far cry cheaper than what I used to pay for apps on Palm. It has now taken a place of honor on my application dock. What CalenGoo does that the others don’t...

Agendus for iPhone is not Agendus for Palm…yet

Posted by: Alli Flowers    Tags:  Agendus, calendar, contacts, Iambic, manager, Palm, pim, tasks, windows mobile    Posted date:  June 18, 2009  |  6 Comments

Before I get too far with this, I need to offer some kind of disclaimer and explain my relationship with Iambic. I am an Agendus fangirl. It’s really as simple as that. I am Agendus biased. I wrote several reviews about Agendus for Palm back in the day. Agendus was my number one go to app on my Centro and Treos before that. I used to spend hours hanging out on the Iambic forums giving users advice – whether they wanted it or not. I finally spent so much time there, that Adriano Chiaretta said “hey, why not join the Iambic Forums Team.” I was tickled pink. Then I discovered that active Iambic...

Dumping Outlook – Returning to the Palm Desktop

This has been my goal since the day I first started seriously toying with the notion of switching to a WinPho. I have always admitted to hating Outlook, even though I really can’t explain why. I prefer my email viewed in Mozilla Thunderbird. Thunderbird actually gives me far more control over the layout. I liked using the Palm Desktop for my contacts and calendar: more precisely, I preferred using Agendus. Iambic offers an Outlook version of Agendus, but it’s still just Outlook with a pretty wrapper.   So what changed? As most of you know, my love of Agendus was so great, that about...
