ContactsXL for iPhone – Review

Posted by: Alli Flowers    Tags:  app, Apple, contacts, dialer, iOS, iPhone, phone, review    Posted date:  February 12, 2013  |  No comment

I recently snagged a promo code for ContactsXL, and was pleasantly surprised with what I'd gotten. One of the apps I missed most from the "good ole" Palm days, was a little something from Toysoft called Picture Dial. I loved Picture Dial (and not just because I had recommended it be developed in the first place). Highlighted by beautiful photos of your contacts that you could just tap to initiate a call to that person, I always considered this a must-have app. And it's something I've been missing a lot with iOS. ContactsXL makes up for as much of that functionality as can be made up within...

Clarity Pal Cellphone for Seniors

There is a time in our lives when a smartphone may no longer be practical. While for some, this may not come until you're in your 80's; while for others it could happen much sooner. For some of you, the very idea sound preposterous. But think, perhaps, of your parents or grandparents. What is it they need in a cell phone? Internet? Games? Probably not. What they need is a dependable way to make or receive a phone call, and send or receive a text message. They don't need something to send email. As we age, our eyes tend to get worse, and even the largest HD display on a cell phone will eventually...

Tagy Widgets – Android App Review

Posted by: Diana M. McDonough    Tags:  Android, app, Google, phone, Play Store, review, tablet    Posted date:  July 22, 2012  |  No comment

Do you run out of real estate on your home screen for icons? Do you wish you had a way to have an icon-free interface? Tagy Widgets is the answer! If you are anything like me, you like to be able to get to your most commonly used applications in as few moves as possible. In the past, I’ve resorted to folders, folder-like widgets and widgets that “shrink” icons to do this. None of them have suited me like Tagy. Tagy presents your apps, contacts, settings or bookmarks in "clouds". You can add as many items to a widget as you desire, and can put multiple widgets on your home screen (you...

Beyond Visual Voicemail

Posted by: Alli Flowers    Tags:  iOS, messages, outgoing messages, phone, visual voicemail, voicemail    Posted date:  March 31, 2012  |  One Comment

I have always had a certain penchant for services that easily bridge the platform barrier. So when I recently discovered ON Voicefeed for iOS, I had to take a closer look. On Voicefeed for iOS takes the concept of visual voicemail, and makes it more...visual. There are other visual voicemail services, notably YouMail and PhoneTag, but ON Voicefeed is clearly different. ON Voicefeed offers not only a service providing outgoing voicemail, but an incredibly simple iOS UI. With other visual voicemail servies, you have to enter a specific text string into your phone's dialer in order to change...
