iCloud review

Apple officially launched iCloud merely few days ago, so we are in the early days of this new revolutionary development. While this comes together with iOS5 it will probably shape the future of Apple products, just as iTunes did. Yes, iCloud is a major technological breakthrough by Apple - on the scale of iTunes. So what is iCloud? iCloud is not just storage (5GB free, more storage available for purchase if desired), but also complex synchronization, backup, and geolocation system. One interesting thing is that you cannot setup iCloud simply by going to iCloud.com, but you must setup iCloud...

PhotoSync for iOS

Every night before going to bed, I place my iPhone on the charger and watch the little sync icon come alive. Yes, iOS 5 will sync your iPhone or iPad to your computer without wires, and without any user input. It's all automatic. I have not plugged my iPhone into my Mac in several weeks now, and it's an easy thing to get used to. And then I needed a photo I'd taken with my iPhone camera. Surely I didn't have to plug my iPhone into my Mac just to transfer the photo? So I emailed it to myself. But there had to be a better way since you can't actually retrieve photos from your iTunes backup/sync. A...

Convertcast Episode 81 June 27, 2011 Beta 2 2 new iPhones in Sept? Thunderbolt the standard, not the phone (vs. USB 3 vs. Firewire) Playbook and BB apps - may not be news, but definitely notable. Playbook can ONLY download apps from App World. You can't run java blackberry apps on the playbook.  Rim will be releasing the Android and blackberry java player this summer. Playbook is based on QNX OS and the smartphone is JAVA. Bringing handheld interface to the desktop iTunes and Android Marketplace in Taiwan Evo 3D - why did they remove the kickstand? Senuti Rescues Your Music

Posted by: Alli Flowers    Tags:  Apple, iPad, iPhone, ipod, itunes, mac, music, sync, videos    Posted date:  January 2, 2011  |  No comment

As those of you who follow me on Twitter know, I recently got both a Mac and stuck in New Jersey for a week. Since I hadn't expected the latter, I was getting impatient about transferring my music (all 8 GB of it!) to my Mac so I could start syncing it to my iPhone. While I've frequently seen the question asked in forums, I'd never really paid attention. How can you copy your music back to your computer from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod? Yes, the best way is still to have a backup and just copy it to the new computer. I had a backup - but it was on a network server that would have required days...

At first glance this app looks exactly like the old iPod and we are amazed that Apple even approved it: (more...)

Meet the Beatles, iTunes

Posted by: Alli Flowers    Tags:  Apple, Beatles, digital, itunes, mp3, music    Posted date:  November 16, 2010  |  9 Comments

Before I start, I'm going to warn all you 20 and 30 somethings, or generally selfish people to stop reading now. You don't care. You wanted the latest and greatest iDevice, or a software update, or a cloud service, or something just for you personally. You were disappointed because Apple's announcement wasn't for you. Get over it. Move on. There is nothing here for you. Or to quote the Beatles, "Let it be." As to the rest of us, the non-selfish and the baby boomer generation (and yes, boomers still make up 28% of the US population and we have $2.3 TRILLION in disposable income), this one's for us. I...
