Tablet Claw – tablet holder review

Posted by: Alli Flowers    Tags:  holder, iPad, tablet    Posted date:  August 9, 2012  |  One Comment

Back at CTIA, I had the pleasure of looking at a new product, the Tablet Claw.  Of course, a perfunctory look at a gadget on someone else's tablet is not the same as getting to spend some time with it on your own. So I was pleased to finally get a chance to get my hands on one for a review. The Tablet Claw is designed to fit 10" tablets. It works with iPads, ASUS EE Transformer, Samsung Galaxy and the 7 in. Kindle Fire. As you can see from the photos, I used it with the iPad 2. It comes with an extra set of thin rubber inserts so that you can also use it on the slightly thicker 1st or 3rd generation...

FlyGrip – Smartphone accessory review

The FlyGrip is a great little gadget that makes holding your cellphone or e-reader more comfortable. Available in 8 colors and 3 sizes, it goes with everything and everyone. Simply take the adhesive backing off the FlyGrip, and attach to the bottom of your phone or e-reader. The FlyGrip pivots back and forth so that you can get your fingers under without pinching. The hard plastic is smooth and quite comfortable.     Mostly, it allows you to hold your device with one hand, and still access the entire screen. It's great for taking photos! If you wanted to, you could...

Brookstone XStand for iPad

Posted by: Alli Flowers    Tags:  accessories, Apple, Dock, holder, iPad, stand, tablet    Posted date:  January 8, 2012  |  2 Comments

I recently went to an appointment where the woman whose office we were in was a new iPad owner. For Christmas, her mother had gotten her a stand for her iPad, and after one look, I knew I had to have it, too.       The XStand from Brookstone holds your iPad either without a case, or with some cases. (Large cases like the Otterbox, or those with flip covers do not fit.) My iPad is currently in the XStand with no case, although the one I first saw was in a case. The stand itself is beautiful, and worthy of holding an iPad. The base comes in black or red (I couldn't resist the red), the arm is chrome,...

Cobra Universal Cigarette Lighter Mount

Posted by: Alli Flowers    Tags:  auto, car mount, cell, cellphone, Cobra, holder, mobile, mount, vehicle    Posted date:  December 10, 2011  |  No comment

Finding a spot for your phone in your car can be a challenge. You want it nearby, but you don't want to have to keep grabbing for it. (And you know you shouldn't be using it while driving in the first place.) Of course, if you're using gps, it's even more important to be able to keep it in view, and close enough to hear easily. And a power source would be nice, right? Enter the Cobra Universal Cigarette Lighter Mount. One word of caution, check the location of your cigarette lighter power inputs before looking at this type of mount. Placement is important. My last car was a Toyota Camry, where...

The Nest for any Tablet

Posted by: Alli Flowers    Tags:  holder, iPad, Kindle, mount, Nook, stand, Tab, tablet, Xoom    Posted date:  November 12, 2011  |  One Comment

While surfing for new and possibly interesting accessories, I came across bluelounge.com. They are positively packed with novelties. I couldn't help but place an order. The focus of my order was something called the Nest. The Nest holds any tablet in two positions: raised at a slight angle, and almost perpendicular.   I must admit, I was mostly captured by this little gadget because of the variety of colors available. I ordered a pink one. So far, I have not been disappointed, and am already considering getting a second one so that I can keep one on my desk at school, and one on my night...

Clingo Universal Car Mount – An impressively sticky little beast

Posted by: Diana M. McDonough    Tags:  accessories, car mount, Clingo, cradle, dash mount, Evo, holder, mount    Posted date:  July 2, 2011  |  No comment

Before I got my original Evo, I had a cute little cradle to hold my phone in the car.  Unfortunately, at its widest, it was still too narrow for my Evo, and now my Evo 3D.  I’ve been through a couple of cradles since then (my son accidentally kicked one and broke it, and my backpack smashed another).   So, when I saw the Clingo at the store, I got it. Deigned to be truly universal, there are no arms on the sides (nor feet at the bottom), so only the sticky pad on the platform holds your device in place.  I had my doubts about how sticky that pad would be, but it turns out that it is so sticky...
