Case of the Week Review – Trident Apollo 2-in-1 Snap-on Case for iPhone 5

Posted by: Alli Flowers    Tags:  accessories, Apple, case, iPhone, review, Trident    Posted date:  April 26, 2013  |  No comment

This week's offering from MobileFun.com is Trident's Apollo 2-in-1 Snap-on case for the iPhone 5. Having used Trident's Cyclops case on my iPhone 4S, I was anxious to check out the Apollo.   As you can see from the photo above, the colors are bright and really grab your attention. The backplate is interchangeable, so you can have a monochrome case, or a two-tone case. (This case comes in a variety of color combinations including Navy/Orange, Green/Blue, and Red/Black.) In addition to the case itself, you get a screen protector and cleaning cloth in the box. The back plate pops...

Apple AirPort – review

Posted by: Edward    Tags:  airport express, Apple, router, wifi, wireless    Posted date:  April 20, 2013  |  No comment

I have very good wireless router from NetGear (with 7 antennas and MIMO technology) at home and I don't need to replace it. Why would I want to buy Airport router from Apple at all? Two reasons: 1. AirPort Express (the smaller AirPort) has built-in audio output (that AirPort Extreme doesn't have). 2. Some apps for iOS can use Apple networking technology, Bonjour over Internet, (not just at home/office), only if the router supports it. So even though I actually didn't need a new wireless router, I bought it! One surprising thing is the size of AirPort Express - it's of similar size to Apple...

Review: Windows 8 for iPad

Posted by: Edward    Tags:  app, Apple, emulate, iPad, mac, Microsoft, OS X, PC, streaming, Windows 8    Posted date:  March 2, 2013  |  No comment

Yes, Windows 8 works on iPad, including multi touch gestures. After getting the app (see link at the end of this review) and after installing streamer software on Windows 8, your iPad discovers Windows 8 and you can start. Of course, you need to enter secret security code to start. Here is the control bar and how it works. While mostly you will use the on–screen keyboard of Windows 8 for text entry, sometimes you will prefer the iOS-side keyboard. What you get is full Windows 8 touch experience, including multi touch and various edge gestures. You can also try the Windows...

Sprinkle game for iOS and Android – review

Posted by: Edward    Tags:  Android, Apple, game, iPhone, review    Posted date:  February 13, 2013  |  No comment

This game for iOS and Android is special because it realistically simulates the way water works. The purpose of this game is to play fireman by directing water flow from a water canon towards fires: you can adjust the height and angle from which you sprinkle water towards fire. This game is very addictive because the flow of water feels real and because the puzzles to solve are fun. Disclaimer: I liked this game before learning that it was made by 2 Swedish guys from Sweden (and I am very biased as Sweden is one of my 3 most favorite countries in Europe - for me "Made in Sweden" is equivalent...

ContactsXL for iPhone – Review

Posted by: Alli Flowers    Tags:  app, Apple, contacts, dialer, iOS, iPhone, phone, review    Posted date:  February 12, 2013  |  No comment

I recently snagged a promo code for ContactsXL, and was pleasantly surprised with what I'd gotten. One of the apps I missed most from the "good ole" Palm days, was a little something from Toysoft called Picture Dial. I loved Picture Dial (and not just because I had recommended it be developed in the first place). Highlighted by beautiful photos of your contacts that you could just tap to initiate a call to that person, I always considered this a must-have app. And it's something I've been missing a lot with iOS. ContactsXL makes up for as much of that functionality as can be made up within...

Tech21 Impact Snap Case with Cover for iPad Mini – Review

Posted by: Alli Flowers    Tags:  accessories, Apple, cases, D3O, Impactology, iPad, iPad mini, Tech21    Posted date:  February 10, 2013  |  No comment

I recently reviewed the Impact Band for iPhone 5 from Tech21, and was anxious to see what they had for the incredibly popular iPad Mini. They were kind enough to send me their Impact Snap Case with Cover for review.   This is a snap in shell type case made of a hard polycarbonate. Integrated in the shell are strips of D3O for impact resistance. Your iPad Mini is held tightly in the shell with no chance it will fall out. Of course, should you drop the whole case, the D3O should protect your iPad Mini. This is an elegant case that looks beautiful and feels great in your hands. Access...
