Brookstone XStand for iPad

Posted by: Alli Flowers    Tags:  accessories, Apple, Dock, holder, iPad, stand, tablet    Posted date:  January 8, 2012  |  2 Comments

I recently went to an appointment where the woman whose office we were in was a new iPad owner. For Christmas, her mother had gotten her a stand for her iPad, and after one look, I knew I had to have it, too.       The XStand from Brookstone holds your iPad either without a case, or with some cases. (Large cases like the Otterbox, or those with flip covers do not fit.) My iPad is currently in the XStand with no case, although the one I first saw was in a case. The stand itself is beautiful, and worthy of holding an iPad. The base comes in black or red (I couldn't resist the red), the arm is chrome,...

SwitchEasy Reptile case for iPad

Posted by: Diana M. McDonough    Tags:  accessories, cases, iPad    Posted date:  December 3, 2011  |  No comment

Having recently purchased a refurbished iPad (1st generation), I naturally went hunting for a case to keep my device looking spiffy.  I found the SwitchEasy Reptile case.  The case comes in black, white, green, brown and purple.  Being a purple kind of gal, that’s the color I got.   The case has 2 pieces: a back that has semi-flexible edges that wrap around the front of the iPad, and a plastic frame that snaps over the edges of the back.  This provides protection for your entire device.  The case is lightweight, and adds minimal bulk – no small factor considering that the original...

LifeProof iPhone Case

I kept seeing people in forums talk about the LifeProof case, and how much better it was than the Otterbox. What I hadn't seen, was a decent review on the LifeProof case. Hopefully, I'll be able to answer all the questions for you right now. I'm going to start with the obligatory comparison to the Otterbox. As most of us know, the two best known Otterbox cases are the Defender and the Commuter. The Defender is BIG. It makes your slender iPhone bulky. It never occurred to me to use one just for this reason. The Commuter, on the other hand, does not add considerable bulk, and with the available...

ROOCASE Executive Leather Case for the Nook Color

Posted by: Diana M. McDonough    Tags:  accessories, Android, cases, e-reader, Nook    Posted date:  September 29, 2011  |  No comment

I recently purchased the ROOCASE Executive Leather case for my Nook Color as a consolation prize for not being able to get a new tablet.  The case is available in red, magenta, graphite grey and black.  I bought the red one. The leather is nice quality; it is not smooth, yet not too heavily grained for my overly-sensitive fingers.  The case itself is fairly thick at just over an inch, but that is understandable given the design.  The cover is sturdy and rigid; and it is nicely padded, with the ROOCASE logo embossed in the lower right corner of the front.  The Nook could probably withstand...

Little Black Book – iPhone

Posted by: Alli Flowers    Tags:  accessories, cover, iPhone, Little Black Book, Pad and Quill    Posted date:  August 28, 2011  |  No comment

My friends are forever teasing me about my "god phone."  I carry it around as though it were the most important thing in the world. (It is.) Now they're concerned that I'm carrying the Steve Jobs Bible. I'm okay with giving that impression. But let me tell you why they are saying this. Not long ago I was talking to someone on my new favorite social media site, Google +, about an iPhone case called The Little Black Book. I thought it was really clever, but I said I wouldn't race out to get it because it didn't have a camera cutout. And then, recently, a mention of  Pad and Quill on TiPb....
