DBEST LONDON – Sound Accessories

Posted by: Alli Flowers    Tags:  accessories, bluetooth, CTIA, DBEST, earbuds, headphones, sound, speakers    Posted date:  May 16, 2012  |  No comment

DBEST boasts the smallest bluetooth speaker in the world. I don't know if they're the smallest, but they are loud enough to be heard over the roar in the convention center during CTIA. And they're beautiful! Wired and wireless, DBEST has some amazing speakers and headphones. Here's Jeff Galant from SmartIT to show and tell more about DBEST. Jeff also had a piece of sculpture masquerading as a speaker. Or maybe it was a speaker masquerading as a sculpture. At any rate, the sound was awesome, and it had some great features. Here are some photos.

Last week at CTIA in New Orleans, I was lucky enough to catch up with Cheryl from Bodydock. She demonstrated their product, which is not just an ultra protective case, but a system of magnets so that you can dock your iPhone almost anywhere. Check out their website at bodydock.com.

Tech21 – Impactology

Posted by: Alli Flowers    Tags:  accessories, cases, cellphone, CTIA, protection, tablet    Posted date:  May 16, 2012  |  No comment

I received many emails leading up to this year's CTIA. None piqued my interest so much as the one promising the CEO would be bringing his "industrial drop test machine." So I went to the Tech21 website to see what this could be about, and found this really cool video. You can check it out for yourself later, but the gist is, they wrap this guy's hand in this orange goop and bash it with a hammer - and he doesn't feel a thing. Are you as intrigued as I was? What makes Impactology™ unique is the secret ingredient D30® Impact Fabric used within our designs. It's composed of a non-Newtonian...

Moshi Accessories

We had the pleasure of seeing a great lineup of accessories from Moshi at CTIA's Showstoppers. This was my first experience with Moshi, and I was very impressed. Take a look at the video below, and you'll be impressed, too.   I'm really looking forward to trying some of their easy to apply iVisor screen protectors. They gave away a few of the iPad iGlaze cases, and they were wonderful. Totally thin and shiny.

XPal Energi to Go – More power to you!

Posted by: Diana M. McDonough    Tags:  accessories, battery, charge, CTIA, power    Posted date:  May 14, 2012  |  No comment

Having been disappointed by the some of my other batteries’ lack of ability to hold a charge, I went looking for a new one which I hoped would perform better. The one I found was XPal Power’s Energi to Go 18,000mAh (yeah, 18,000!), which is licensed by Energizer. I put this battery to the test during CTIA, and I have to say it simply blew my socks off. This battery is pretty good sized at 7in x 4.5in x .75in, and it weighs about 2 pounds. But given the amount of power this thing packs, it isn’t bad at all. In theory, 18,000mAh is enough to charge the average smart phone 10 times. So,...

Tiltpod

Billed on Kickstarter as "the world's smallest articulating iPhone stand," the Tiltpod was funded for 637% of their $10,000 goal. When I opened the box containing the packaged Tiltpod, my first thought was "it's so tiny!" It's small enough to carry on your keyring, and even comes with a ring so that you can carry it with you. I feel compelled to point out before going further, that although the Tiltpod is made for the iPhone 4/4s, it fits the Droid X2 perfectly - so much so that after taking photos of the Droid in it, I was informed that I was not getting the Tiltpod back.      What...
