Bono's group contributed another 100 mil to Palm.
According to one site they are very high on Nova.
I do hope it's as good as they think.

I just hope it is. Cause if it ain't they will have thrown away money they could have used to bail out GM.

I want to see Palm do something that will make all those haters go "ooooooooooooooooooooooo! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!"

Can I have some of what You're smokin'?

Me too! It's in their history. The 600 rocked the foundation.

The thing I wonder most about is how freely they are gonna' float tools to 3'rd party developers to develop apps. I was even able to make a simple dice rolling app using the google tools....and I can't type...just watched some Youtube crap.

Truth is...IMWorthlessO...the google OS is gonna' present a prollem. Apps a billion are comin' (a shitload of freeware, too) but so will malware. Am curious to see how easy it will be to access the eprom on those phone with 3rd party software.

Maybe PALM will have an emulator that allows all the old PALM crap and development of new secure software...that would be nice......can I have some tea Mr. Mad Hatter? By the by....you seen any chicks chasin' rabbits.

If the new Palm os doesn't run the old Palm os apps, there will be no reason for the old Palm users to bother with it. It will make it too easy for them to move to another platform. An emulator isn't going to cut it, or Styletap would have guaranteed a lot more Palm loyalists jumping to Windows Mobile.

You're right about Android. Making it totally open source from the start means the sky is the limit in development - exactly the opposite of the iPhone.

I read a blog post yesterday about how difficult MS made it for developers and how much simpler it was to develop for iPhone. Excuse me? Some people are still blinded by that big screen, and don't see what's missing from the use! Palm always had a good middle ground when it came to development.

I guess we'll find out soon.

Everything new now points to this oversized capacitive screen with a slide down keyboard. No backwards compatibility at first? I say - WTF?! Palm's biggest hope was pinned on immediately recapturing old loyalists who had jumped ship and be able to use their old apps again. But this will be next to impossible with a capacitive (and perhaps more importantly) non-square screen.

<yawn>

C'mon Palm.

One important thing for me is the usability of the PIM apps. I currently have a winmob device with StyleTap and utter four letter words often when managing my day to day tasks. StyleTap is not bad, but I have to use the native PIM to get reminders. Agendus runs under styletap though Cheesy

I just followed along the press conference with a few live blog sites. In a way I'm very disappointed, but in a way I'm excited.

The device has a slide out keyboard (portrait style) just like some of the mockups that have been circulating for a week or so. It's not bad looking. 320x480 with a 3.1" display. Too much bezel around the capacitive (!) screen.

The os is cloud based. Not sure what that means if you are somewhere with no reception...like at 30,000 feet. Will you lose access to your apps? Supposedly everything can now be developed in html...didn't even realize that counted as a programming language! Pandora said it took them 3 days to create their app for Palm's web os.

Portrait or landscape for browsing photos or the net. Lots of iPhone like flicking.

8GB...hrmmmwhat else was there....3mp camera with led flash, 3.5 mm headphone jack, micro usb.
