One App, One Price, Many Platforms

Iliumsoft has announced a business model that I really like. “Because when you buy or upgrade eWallet, it's for you, not your device.” How can you not like that?! Especially in this mobile world where many of us are constantly switching from and between iPhone, Windows Phone, Blackberry, and more – this is a move that some other companies should heed. (Are you listening, Iambic? WebIS? Kinoma?) I’ve told you about eWallet in the past (eWallet for iPhone, eWallet for Windows Mobile), and the app itself just gets better. Back in May of 2008, I wrote a little review of YouMail after talking with Alex Quilici at CTIA. (See my video interview here.) While I have mostly gotten over the amusement of having 27 personal greetings, I still think that YouMail is one of the greatest free services out there for cell phone users. Quick feature rundown: See a list of your messages and scroll and listen to voicemail on your phone, online or email Save your voicemails forever and share with anyone Greet callers by name or assign different greetings to different callers Block unknown and unwanted callers Never...

ConvertCast Episode 3

Apps, and Cases, and Batteries - Oh My!!! There have been around 1.5 Billion (?!) downloaded. Some are free, some are merely inexpensive. Coming from any other platform, they are not expensive by any means. Some of the apps discussed: PocketInformant, Citibank, PayPal, SplashTravel, SplashShopper, eWallet, Bejeweled, Solitaire, and CompanionLink. What is the difference between productivity apps, and games? Shameless plug for myipodbroke.com because Alli won a $15 iTunes gift card from them last week on Twitter, so now she can feed her app addiction. Cases, cases, and more cases....

Stockholm, Sweden—July 16, 2009 Salling Software AB on Wednesday updated its application for syncing media from iTunes to mobile devices. The new version supports Palm's popular Pre smartphone, and includes the ability to also sync photos, letting users to bring their favorite photo albums with them. "I admit the timing of this release is no coincidence," said Salling Software president Jonas Salling. "We're betting there are a lot of Palm Pre owners who feel burned by the new iTunes, 8.2.1 update. But they can keep syncing with iTunes using Salling Media Sync! It's totally...
