Kinect with the Xbox

Posted by: Guest Contributor    Tags:  games, gaming, Kinect, Wii, Xbox    Posted date:  July 29, 2011  |  No comment

There are many ways to keep fit and video games recently entered this realm, much to my delight. The Wii was the first console that entered this market in 2006. When the small device was first launched - the world lusted over it. But now there is a new guy in town; the Xbox Kinect, which allows the user to interact with the console without the need of a controller. This is incredibly liberating! Launched in 2010, using advanced technology, the webcam style device tracks your movements so the gamer is free from any restraints. The console, which also responds to the spoken word, offers a great...

Sorta Free Daily Android App on Amazon

Posted by: Alli Flowers    Tags:  Amazon, Android, apps, daily, free    Posted date:  July 9, 2011  |  No comment

I have been delighted with my Samsung Galaxy Tab. The form factor is just right for me, and I really had been anxious to get my hands on an Android device, and really couldn't justify getting another phone. I was just as anxious to try out some Android apps. I wanted to make some comparisons between Android and iPhone apps, and also see what I could get that was unique on Android. The Android Marketplace was a huge disappointed from the first moment I entered. If there's any organizational pattern there at all, it defies my recognition. Even with a complete and specific app name, you are more...

Kinect Forces Poorly Implemented Facial Recognition

Posted by: Edward    Tags:  facial recognition, games, Kinect, Microsoft, Xbox    Posted date:  June 1, 2011  |  No comment

People with darker skin are reporting that the facial recognition in Xbox via Kinect is not working for them. So is Xbox racist or there is another problem with Kinect? The other day, after repositioning of Xbox I again had problems with facial recognition in certain Kinect games, so I had Twitter exchange with official @XboxSupport Twitter account powered by Microsoft employees, but the result was sadly negative: not only was my problems not resolved but I was misled! Firstly Microsoft claimed that it's nonsense that I can have any problems because Kinect was tested (remember that testing...

How to use Amazon Cloud Drive on iPhone or iPad

Posted by: Edward    Tags:  Cloud Computing, music, storage    Posted date:  April 3, 2011  |  4 Comments

Compared to Amazon, other companies are idiots when it comes to cloud computing: Amazon EC2 and Amazon S3 are powering many Web 2.0 startups and with introduction of Amazon Cloud Drive also end users, not just startups, can take advantage of superior cloud computing. (more...)

CTIA – personal thoughts

Posted by: Alli Flowers    Tags:  CTIA    Posted date:  March 24, 2011  |  2 Comments

My brain is fried. I am having such a great time. I've lost the people I was with only 30 minutes ago, and don't know where to look for the ones I'm supposed to meet next. It will work out. I've recorded so much video that I'm afraid I've filled my hard drive. I'm having a love/hate relationship with Mac OSX. I think I'm getting the hang of the file system, but doggone it, Windows is so much more (dare I say it?), intuitive! I uploaded 847 videos to my youtube account. Then I uploaded some of them again, because I hadn't figured out how to rename them, and didn't know if I'd uploaded them or not....

CTIA CEO Roundtable

Posted by: Alli Flowers    Tags:  AT&T, Cramer, CTIA, DelaVega, Hesse, Mead, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon    Posted date:  March 22, 2011  |  No comment

The introduction of the 3 cellphone giants' CEO's was worth the price of admission to this year's CTIA. While I'm still not so crazy about Sprint, I'm now a huge Dan Hesse fan. The man is a great speaker, and is quick on his feet. He didn't miss a single opportunity to poke fun of his competitors. Watch the intro with moderator, Jim Cramer. I have a few more good clips coming, but this is definitely a "best of show."
