Digital Innovations Android Speaker Dock

Posted by: Diana M. McDonough    Tags:  accessories, Android, app, Dock, speakers    Posted date:  February 20, 2012  |  No comment

With the plethora of speakers and docks available for iPad and iPhone, it was nice to see someone come out with one specifically for Android, and I was thrilled to get my hands on this one from Digital Innovations. At 12” wide and 3” deep, this dock is a little larger than I expected, but still small enough to fit comfortably on a desk…or on my nightstand, which is where mine will sit. It has 2 front speakers (right and left) and one speaker on the rear. The sound is fantastic! There is also a small blue LED power indicator light on the front.       The...

Cellhelmet

Posted by: Alli Flowers    Tags:      Posted date:  February 15, 2012  |  No comment

Sometimes a Kickstarter project comes along that has a hook that makes it just a little different. Cellhelmet is one of those projects. The world's first and only case to insure the iPhone 4/4S against physical damages (for US & Canadian residents).  If your phone accidentally breaks inside of a cellhelmet - we'll repair it.  If it's beyond repair - we'll replace it.  Guaranteed." Pretty gutsy, I'd say. I'm looking forward to getting my hands on one of these bad boys, because while the protection is important, when it comes to iPhone cases, looks count. But the photos on the Kickstarter...

iPad 2 Case Review: Targus Versavu

Posted by: Alli Flowers    Tags:  accessories, case, iPad, Targus    Posted date:  February 12, 2012  |  No comment

You know I'm a bit of a case fiend.  I am forever in search of the perfect case - but I think I've finally found the one for my iPad 2! What makes the Targus Versavu so special? Simple - it allows your iPad to rotate 360 degrees, so that you can use it in both portrait and landscape. My biggest complaint with the Smart covers, is that you can prop your iPad up in landscape view, but if you want to view anything in portrait mode, you have to leave your iPad flat. Of course, you only get a slight tilt with the Smart cover anyway. The Versavu gives you two angles, in addition to being able...

New on Kickstarter – CueTab Case for iPad 2

Posted by: Alli Flowers    Tags:      Posted date:  January 31, 2012  |  One Comment

The CueTab case struck me as having what so many cases are missing - optional methods of holding your iPad. You have to watch the video for yourselves to see the versatility of this design. Needless to say - I want one. The handle is the clincher. Who doesn't want a handle on their iPad?! I do! And I like the idea of the handle being used to hang your iPad for easy viewing, or to prop up the case. It does seem pretty complete. Join me in backing this one! http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/202789185/cuetab-case-the-best-all-in-one-case-for-ipad

Brookstone XStand for iPad

Posted by: Alli Flowers    Tags:  accessories, Apple, Dock, holder, iPad, stand, tablet    Posted date:  January 8, 2012  |  2 Comments

I recently went to an appointment where the woman whose office we were in was a new iPad owner. For Christmas, her mother had gotten her a stand for her iPad, and after one look, I knew I had to have it, too.       The XStand from Brookstone holds your iPad either without a case, or with some cases. (Large cases like the Otterbox, or those with flip covers do not fit.) My iPad is currently in the XStand with no case, although the one I first saw was in a case. The stand itself is beautiful, and worthy of holding an iPad. The base comes in black or red (I couldn't resist the red), the arm is chrome,...

Capacitive Stylus Review: Jot

Posted by: Alli Flowers    Tags:  Android, Apple, drawing, iPad, stylus, tablet    Posted date:  December 24, 2011  |  One Comment

Since getting my iPad and discovering CaptureNotes 2, I have been looking for a really good stylus. It's a shame to have to write with your finger in big block letters like a pre-schooler when you have an app as great as CaptureNotes on which to write. My friend Leanna over at TiPb recommended the Wacom stylus, but I just couldn't bring myself to spend $30 for what looked exactly like every other stylus out there. So I kept looking until I stumbled upon the Jot stylus from Adonit. While they have both a Jot and Jot Pro model, I figured I could get away without the rubber grip on the pro model,...

Cobra Universal Cigarette Lighter Mount

Finding a spot for your phone in your car can be a challenge. You want it nearby, but you don't want to have to keep grabbing for it. (And you know you shouldn't be using it while driving in the first place.) Of course, if you're using gps, it's even more important to be able to keep it in view, and close enough to hear easily. And a power source would be nice, right? Enter the Cobra Universal Cigarette Lighter Mount. One word of caution, check the location of your cigarette lighter power inputs before looking at this type of mount. Placement is important. My last car was a Toyota Camry, where...

SwitchEasy Reptile case for iPad

Posted by: Diana M. McDonough    Tags:  accessories, cases, iPad    Posted date:  December 3, 2011  |  No comment

Having recently purchased a refurbished iPad (1st generation), I naturally went hunting for a case to keep my device looking spiffy.  I found the SwitchEasy Reptile case.  The case comes in black, white, green, brown and purple.  Being a purple kind of gal, that’s the color I got.   The case has 2 pieces: a back that has semi-flexible edges that wrap around the front of the iPad, and a plastic frame that snaps over the edges of the back.  This provides protection for your entire device.  The case is lightweight, and adds minimal bulk – no small factor considering that the original...

LifeProof iPhone Case

Posted by: Alli Flowers    Tags:  accessories, Apple, cases, dirt proof, iPhone, protection, screen protector, shock proof, water proof, waterproof    Posted date:  December 3, 2011  |  8 Comments

I kept seeing people in forums talk about the LifeProof case, and how much better it was than the Otterbox. What I hadn't seen, was a decent review on the LifeProof case. Hopefully, I'll be able to answer all the questions for you right now. I'm going to start with the obligatory comparison to the Otterbox. As most of us know, the two best known Otterbox cases are the Defender and the Commuter. The Defender is BIG. It makes your slender iPhone bulky. It never occurred to me to use one just for this reason. The Commuter, on the other hand, does not add considerable bulk, and with the available...

The Nest for any Tablet

Posted by: Alli Flowers    Tags:  holder, iPad, Kindle, mount, Nook, stand, Tab, tablet, Xoom    Posted date:  November 12, 2011  |  One Comment

While surfing for new and possibly interesting accessories, I came across bluelounge.com. They are positively packed with novelties. I couldn't help but place an order. The focus of my order was something called the Nest. The Nest holds any tablet in two positions: raised at a slight angle, and almost perpendicular.   I must admit, I was mostly captured by this little gadget because of the variety of colors available. I ordered a pink one. So far, I have not been disappointed, and am already considering getting a second one so that I can keep one on my desk at school, and one on my night...
