Imagine leaving home. You’re going to be gone a few weeks, a few months, or perhaps this is a permanent move. Now imagine being able to continue reading your hometown paper, no matter where you are. PressReader offers you the full newspaper experience on your tablet (and across multiple platforms). PressReader provides access to over 2,200 full-content newspapers and magazines from 97 countries in 54 languages. While my current local paper is not included, I found the newspapers from the last 4 cities I lived in the US, and all those from out of the US.

Do you enjoy reading newspapers from other countries, perhaps in other languages? You get a completely different spin on world events that way. PressReader allows you to do just that. It’s a dream come true for a foreign language teacher. You can project a newspaper from your target language onto your smartboard with a direct connection to your tablet device, or just place it under your document camera. Of course, you can also print screen, print, or email the link directly from the app. You can also save stories to Evernote or Instapaper.

Using PressReader, you see the newspaper the same as you would if you were holding the physical paper. Of course, holding a 10″ tablet is so much more convenient than holding a traditional newspaper! No more folding the pages back to avoid annoying the person in the seat next to you on the bus or train. Scroll from one page to the next. Zoom to enlarge as you need.

One of the unique features of PressReader is the audio. You can have the paper read to you. In whatever language the given publication appears – and the audio is super. Just click the speaker on the front of your paper and listen cover to cover.

PressReader is available for iOSWindows Phone 7BlackberryAndroid, and more. PressReader offers four different tiers of subscriptions, beginning with a pay as you go for $.99 per issue. This is a perfect option if you’re really only interested in the Sunday paper, or if you only want to check in with a few different publications on occasion. If you are an avid reader, the Personal Unlimited plan offers subscribers the best dollar value with virtually unlimited monthly access to over 2,200 newspapers from 97 countries in 54languages for $29.95/month.
