June 23, 2012
While most people think that in December 2012 nothing will happen, some people think that the world will end, courtesy of a solar flare. Personally, I hope that aliens will come to Earth then.
What can aliens do on planet Earth, considering how extremely primitive our homo sapiens species is? Well…aliens like to abduct for scientific purposes of course, although I suspect some fun may be involved too.
Speaking of fun, Probe the Humans is a fun iPhone game where you are an alien abducting humans as well as livestock, like cows and pigs. You also ollect coins, which makes little sense in alien abduction scheme, but is perfectly OK considering that this app is free and like many recent games its business model is in-app purchases of coins.
Instead of having multiple levels that you pass and you can resume playing after levels that you passed, this game seems to have just one big level with many phases.

It is annoying that, for example, after passing rural area with villages and their pigs and cows, that after reaching road area, I have to go through stupid villagers again if I crash.

So, in this game you are flying an UFO and via tractor beam sucking up, “abducting” various things from the ground. You should pick humans, pigs, coins, cows, to get points. If you pick via your tractor beam a fence, then you are losing energy power and if you pick a car, you lose even more energy. If your energy is at zero, you crash.

Via in-app purchase you can buy points. You can gather points by playing too. If you have enough points you can buy other alien characters.

Here you can see how many points you get by gathering various items.

Interesting game points you can buy not only via in-app purchase but also you can earn 800 points by sharing this game on Facebook (this game’s viral marketing mechanism).

Settings screen doesn’t have many options, and I didn’t find the ability to tilt the phone to play instead of using touchscreen.

Conclusions
This game is a bit annoying because user needs to restart and fly over and over again over already passed areas. Overall it’s a fun game and since it’s free it’s absolutely worth recommending. Apart from that it has funny topic of extraterrestrial aliens and alien abduction. While game’s description teases scientific simulation of alien abduction, (which made me hope for some real alien abduction things like inserting probes etc.), the fact is this game is just about avoiding obstacles and gathering objects. Nonetheless, still a fun game.
