Proporta has long been one of my favorite companies for cases. Their Shine case for the iPhone is unique and beautiful. I had the opportunity to look at four of their offerings for the iPad, and I must say – they are fabulous.
Since I no longer have an iPad, I invited a friend over, and we opened the packages and played dress-up with her iPad. All the cases were packaged the same way, traditional cellophane bag, taped at one end, with a cardboard product band around it, showing the case name.
Two of the cases we looked at were simple back shells, and two were leather binder style cases. As you’ll see in the videos, we discovered that with both the leather cases, there is an elastic band and a snap closure on the back so that you can stand up your iPad, easel style.
Both of us pretty much shared the same opinions as we checked out these cases. Specifics with the videos, with our favorite saved for last.
The Impact Protective Crystal Case is a rather ordinary back shell. As the name implies, it is crystal clear, and provides decent protection for the back of your iPad. If you are a minimalist and want to show off your iPad while still providing a buffer against scratches, this one is available for $29.95 from Proporta online.
If you’re not as concerned about overstating “I have an Apple iPad,” but still want thin and good scratch protection for the back of your gadget, the Profile Hard Shell case for $33.99 might be a good choice. This case offers protection both inside and out, with a velvet inside, and an elegant leather exterior.
As I mentioned earlier, the Shine case for the iPhone has to be one of my all time favorites, and Proporta has done a superb job matching the style for the iPad. (I’m wondering where the mirror went though!) The iPad Shine case we looked at was “mulberry.” A beautiful patent leather that we both called “plum,” it’s also available in traditional black. With a paisley design adorning the outside edge, there is a single paisley print on the inside cover. The only negative to this case was that it definitely seems to be a fingerprint magnet, and due to the size of the device and case…you could spend some time wiping down the case. But for this kind of beauty, it might be worth it. An ideal case for the younger iPad owner, this one is available for $47.95.
As promised, the best for last. The Leather Style Case offers both protection and elegance. The leather is rich, and it feels good to both see and hold. This is definitely an executive case. Lots of padding on front and back, your iPad is absolutely secure. This will totally replace your need to carry a portfolio, and it even has a pocket, so that you have a place to put papers given to you by those few people left who haven’t gone all digital. Proporta offers the Leather Style case for $37.95.
Proporta offers well made and beautiful products at reasonable prices. We had great fun playing with these cases, and I know my friend is going to be happy using them – although she may actually give one to her husband. Special thanks to my friend, Hope, for bringing over her iPad. Don’t forget to check out her store on Etsy!
