Not really Art. Art, after all, is my father. And this is all about my son, David.

David has had an iPhone since the 2nd day of its original release. And I have made fun of him, and given him heck since then. I have recently apologized, and we are both enjoying the iPhone 3GS. In the meanwhile, I’d also like to point out that David is one of the few people in the world that I have always understood and accepted using a Mac. I’ve always felt that Macs were for graphics and music, and that those of us who are not artistically inclined should really stick with Windows.

Although by day David works for a New York law firm, by night David enters the world of music production at MBC Digital, a conglomerate of artists and musicians committed to pushing sonic boundaries and bringing great music to the digital realm. To that effect, David created the theme to the ConvertCast podcast, and regularly looks through my collection of golden oldies for unique music samples.

As it happens, David has always been quite a talented artist, and it is for these two reasons that I have forgiven him his Apple fanboi-ism. But it’s because of his talent as an artist, that when I first heard about the app Brushes, that I emailed him with their app store and website links, and offered to purchase it for him. At $4.99, my son gratefully accepted this small gift.

While an actual review of Brushes is out of the question for my limited artistic knowledge and skill, I can share with you how David is using it.

Yesterday, I received the following rendering of Leo, my daughter Ashleigh‘s shih tzu.

I immediately sent the picture out in a tweet, prompting a request from Leanna for her own dog, Epsilon. David replied that it might take him a while, but barely twelve hours later, he had this picture drawn from Leanna’s twitpic:

As you can see, the similarities are quite remarkable redavidable!

As David sends new iPhone art, I’m just going to append them to the bottom of this post.
